It’s a big day in the Villaire household.
I’ve dreamed about revealing the cover of my debut novel for, oh, most of my life. I’ve always loved seeing other authors’ covers. There’s so much excitement around finally unveiling this physical representation of a project you’ve worked on for so long. For many readers, it’s their first introduction to our work, and while “don’t judge a book by its cover” always holds true, a bold, memorable cover certainly makes a difference, especially when you’re a debut author with little to no name recognition (hi).
And I got very lucky with this cover. My publisher looked through my Pinterest board and paid close attention to my likes and dislikes. They were open to taking my feedback and making changes and tweaks. I’m grateful that the process was so collaborative, because it means I ended up with a cover that I’m really excited to share with the world tomorrow - but today, with you!
As promised, I’m sharing the cover early on Substack as a show of appreciation that you’re willing to receive my rambling posts about writing and life and whatever else is on my mind. Thank you for following along as I build this career and launch my debut novel out into the world. I hope this will be the first of many cover reveals!
Okay I’ll stop stalling! Here’s the US cover of The Glittering Edge…
*drumroll*
*heart eyes*
Look at this! What! WHAT!!!!!! That’s my book!
This stunning art is by Allison Reimold. I’m such a fan of her work, and I’m beyond grateful that she agreed to take on this project. Huge thanks to my book designer Patrick Hulse and my editor Ruqayyah Daud, both at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, for managing the whole design process.
And I’d be bad at my job if I didn’t include some links:
To add The Glittering Edge on Goodreads, click here.
To preorder from Barnes & Noble, click here.
To preorder from Bookshop.org, click here.
To preorder from Books-A-Million, click here.
To preorder from Target, click here.
To preorder from Amazon, click here.
If you’re like “why would I preorder?!” it’s because it helps gauge early excitement for a book before its release, and it could get me more marketing support from my publisher. Also, you’ll be able to sleep easy knowing you’ll have this absolute stunner on your bookshelf after it releases on May 6, 2025 (it’s so much easier talking up the cover because I didn’t make it myself lol).
Thank you for reading, and I hope you love the cover as much as I do. And stay tuned for information about ARCs! I might be doing a giveaway for Substack subscribers…
SHE’S BEAUTIFUL OH MY GOD!!!! The purple 😭😭😭
